On Monday, July 13, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with Economics Minister Viktors Valainis at the Jurmala residence to discuss support possibilities for the Latgale region.

The President shared feedback he had received from entrepreneurs and residents of Latgale and urged the Ministry of Economics to find solutions in two areas: first, to expand the housing and business loan programs implemented by "Altum"; second, to ease the implementation conditions of certain European Union support programs for tourism sector participants.

Rinkēvičs praised the work of "Altum" and the Ministry of Economics as its shareholder in implementing targeted measures to support businesses in Latvia's eastern border region.

During the meeting, the President listened to the minister's vision for progressing previously launched initiatives and implementing new priorities under the current government. They also discussed achievements in reducing food prices and proposals for future cooperation projects in the field of artificial intelligence.

Over the weekend, Rinkēvičs shared on social media that he had spent two beautiful days in Latgale, including a bike ride from Rēzekne to Ludza, an overnight stay at Dzerkaļu guest house, and recommendations to visit the Ludza Museum of Local History and the synagogue.
