Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with US President Donald Trump during the week of the United Nations General Assembly, the Latvian leader announced on social media.
In a post on the platform X, Rinkēvičs shared a photo taken with Trump, saying the brief exchange was a pleasant opportunity to talk and take a picture together. The Latvian president noted that Trump had offered positive remarks about Latvia, including recognition of the country's commitment to spending 5% of GDP on defence and its stance on keeping "bad guys" out.

US visit
The Latvian president carried out a working visit to the United States from September 17 to 28, a period that overlapped with the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, which took place from the previous week into the start of this week.
