Rinkēvičs Invites Kuwait's Emir and Crown Prince to Visit Latvia

Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs on Tuesday sent an official invitation to Kuwait's Emir and Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, to visit Latvia. News agency LETA was informed of the invitation by Mārtiņš Drēģeris, the president's adviser on communications.

The invitation was addressed to Kuwait's crown prince, who holds one of the country's highest offices. The Presidential Chancery has not yet released further details on when the proposed visit might take place, nor has it specified the visit's purpose or possible agenda.

Invitations of this kind are typically used to strengthen bilateral diplomatic relations between states and to lay the groundwork for future cooperation in various fields. Kuwait is one of the countries in the Persian Gulf region with which Latvia has not previously maintained particularly intensive high-level official contacts.

News of the invitation became public through a statement from the Presidential Chancery, distributed by LETA. It is not yet known whether the Kuwaiti side has responded to the invitation or confirmed participation in a possible visit.
