Rinkēvičs: for families of Latvians missing in Nepal, uncertainty is hardest to bear

Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs said on social media that he is following the situation of Latvian citizens who have gone missing in Nepal. He noted that the Foreign Ministry keeps him regularly updated on the work of the diplomatic and consular service as it tries to establish information about the missing Latvians.

The president stressed that in such situations, the hardest thing for relatives and friends of the missing people to endure is the uncertainty about what has happened. His statement did not specify further details about the circumstances in Nepal or how many people are affected.

The Foreign Ministry's consular service continues its work to determine the whereabouts and condition of the Latvian citizens who remain unaccounted for. The president confirmed that the situation is being monitored at the highest level of the state.
