Rivian Spinoff Also to Start Delivering Its First E-Bikes Next Week
After months of delays tied to supply chain issues, Rivian spinoff Also announced it will begin delivering its TM-B e-bikes next week. The company expects all Launch Edition orders to ship by September.
Rivian spinoff Also is finally set to begin delivering its first e-bikes to customers next week, following months of postponements caused by unspecified supply chain problems. On Friday, the company told TechCrunch that the Launch Edition of its TM-B e-bike, which retails for $4,500, has started shipping from its manufacturer to a warehouse in the U.S. Also said it expects to deliver all Launch Edition bikes between next week and September.
Background
Also began as a skunkworks project inside Rivian in 2022, after CEO RJ Scaringe started looking into developing an e-bike to complement the company's range of electric vehicles for outdoor enthusiasts. The venture experimented with the idea for several years and even enlisted Jony Ive's design firm LoveFrom to assist with an early design. In March 2025, Rivian spun off Also as an independent company, securing $105 million in backing from Eclipse.
Delays and Supply Chain Issues
The startup unveiled its first e-bike, the TM-B, in October of last year. It originally targeted a spring 2026 delivery window, but supply chain difficulties pushed the timeline to July. In June, Also explained on a support page that the main factor was "current stress on global supply chains," including a rapid industry-wide spike in demand for raw materials and electronic components. The company declined to specify which components were affected, but said its engineering and production teams were working to minimize the constraints without cutting corners on safety or quality.
Future Plans and Customer Reactions
Beyond the TM-B, Also describes itself as a "vehicle" company. It plans to produce four-wheel pedal-assist cargo vehicles for Amazon and is developing an autonomous delivery vehicle for DoorDash. For now, the company needs to focus on fulfilling its first e-bike orders while addressing customer service concerns.
On Friday, the last day of July, several customers voiced frustration on the r/ALSOmicromobility subreddit about repeated delays and poor communication. Some said they had canceled their reservations, while others joked about the lack of updates. Also has yet to publicly address these complaints.
