Roberts Vītols secures two wins in Denmark, edges closer to Supercar Lites Academy prize

This season's Supercar Lites category offers more than the championship crown. The Supercar Lites Academy winner will receive a fully funded start in an FC2 car at the RallyX world final in Montalegre on 24–25 October. The prize is estimated at around €25,000 and will be awarded based on each driver's four best results of the season.

At the Danish event, Latvia's Roberts Vītols dominated by winning all six qualification heats and both finals. His lap times were approximately 0.4–0.6 seconds faster than those of his nearest rivals, and he completed the weekend without significant mistakes. According to team calculations, this performance mathematically secures Vītols' FC2 prize drive for the season, though official confirmation is still pending.

Vītols said there had been several uncertainties before the race because he had spent eight weeks in the United States, which meant no driving, no physical training and no chance to analyse data. Nevertheless, he felt the time abroad taught him a lot, and from the very first heat he was able to focus on the right things and run his own race. Starts were successful, the pace was stable and no major errors were made.

The driver explained that securing the FC2 prize had been the team's main sporting goal before the season. Since his absence made a full championship campaign unlikely, the plan for Denmark was to win both days and take every possible point. He credited pre-race work on last year's data and car preparation for the strong performance, noting the team was ahead from the first practice session.

Vītols' contribution also helped his teammate. Sixteen-year-old Swede Hugo Lundgren made his Supercar Lites debut with Team Faren and, using Vītols' data, progressed from last place in the first day's practice to second place in the final behind the Latvian. As a result, Team Faren drivers took first and second in Sunday's race.
