Roberts Vītols races against F1 champion Max Verstappen at Silverstone
Latvian representative Roberts Vītols took part in a karting challenge at Silverstone where four-time F1 world champion Max Verstappen raced against amateur drivers. Starting last, Verstappen overtook all 100 competitors within 14 laps.
Latvia's Roberts Vītols took part in a karting challenge held at the Silverstone circuit, getting the chance to compete against one of the world's best motorsport drivers.
The event's central figure was four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen, who started the challenge from the very last position among 100 amateur drivers. Despite the worst possible starting spot, Verstappen advanced rapidly through the field — by the sixth lap he had already reached tenth place, and by the tenth lap he was up to fourth.
The challenge lasted a total of 14 laps, during which Verstappen overtook every one of the 100 drivers who had started ahead of him, including Vītols, finishing the race in the lead position.
Vītols was among the amateur participants given the rare opportunity to compete directly against an active F1 champion in the informal karting format.
