Border Guards Intercept Estonians with Fake Army Plate Carrying 11 Illegal Migrants
Latvian border guards in Skaista parish stopped a minibus driven by Estonian citizens, carrying 11 people without documents, using a fake Latvian army license plate.

The State Border Guard spotted a Volkswagen minibus on a road in Skaista parish, driven by an Estonian citizen with another Estonian citizen as a passenger. Upon inspection, they found 11 individuals inside without valid travel documents, visas, or residence permits. These individuals had previously illegally crossed the Belarus–Latvia border.
It was also determined that the vehicle's license plate was counterfeit and matched a genuine Latvian army vehicle. Criminal proceedings will be initiated against the two Estonian citizens, while the 11 individuals were prevented from illegally crossing the state border.
The State Border Guard reports that this year they have launched 89 criminal proceedings for illegal transportation of persons and/or enabling illegal stay in Latvia. Of these, 26 were separated from previously initiated proceedings, and proceedings have been started against 77 individuals.
