Roblox to launch browser-based and offline play modes by 2027
At its annual developers conference, Roblox announced that browser-based gaming without downloads will arrive by the end of 2026, followed by offline play in mid-2027.

At its annual Roblox Developers Conference, the company outlined a series of changes aimed at making its games easier to access. By the end of 2026, players will be able to join Roblox games directly through a browser, without downloading or installing anything.
Users will be able to start playing instantly by clicking a link to a game's Experience Details Page found via search engines, YouTube, X, or email. This browser-based mode will initially work only on Chrome, though Roblox says support for other browsers will follow later.
Offline play coming in 2027
In mid-2027, Roblox plans to introduce offline play as well. Creators will be able to enable solo offline mode for their games, letting players keep playing even when their internet connection is unreliable. The company said early access to this feature will open soon, meaning some users will get to try it before next year.
Standalone apps and new game types
As part of its "Play Roblox Everywhere" push, Roblox will also let creators release their games as standalone apps across mobile devices, PCs, and consoles.
Additionally, Roblox announced it is expanding its engine's capabilities and adding new user-interface features to support 2D and puzzle-style games, in addition to the 3D experiences the platform is best known for. The company is also broadening support for turn-based, asynchronous multiplayer games, meaning users can expect a wider variety of game types on the platform going forward.
