Rockstar releases GTA VI 'extended look' on YouTube

Rockstar Games has published its promised "extended look" at the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI on both YouTube and its official website.

The in-depth preview, built entirely from footage captured on the PS5 version of the game, first premiered on Netflix at 3PM ET. However, because Rockstar had allowed creators to post reaction videos, audiences could effectively watch the footage on YouTube even before the studio's own upload went live.

Focus on mood over mechanics

Running nearly 27 minutes, the preview centers mainly on atmosphere, the game's protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, and showcasing in-game locations, rather than offering a detailed breakdown of gameplay systems. The result feels closer to scenes from a film than a typical video game trailer.

Still, the footage includes some playable segments, such as shootouts and police car chases, along with activities like shooting hoops and scuba diving. Other outlets that received separate previews from Rockstar have shared additional gameplay details that were not shown in this video.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19th, with a starting price of $79.99.
