Wisła Kraków, back in Poland's top flight this season, beat Jagiellonia Białystok 2:0 at home in round 8 of the Ekstraklasa. Spaniard Angel Rodado scored both goals — in the 14th and 87th minutes — and the win allowed the promoted side to overtake Jagiellonia in the standings.

Before the match Jagiellonia held a one-point lead despite having played one game fewer. The two sides had last met in the 2025 Polish Super Cup, which Jagiellonia won 1:0 thanks to a goal from Miki Villar. Around the hour mark Rodado found the net again, but the goal was disallowed for offside — SportoweFakty reports this happened in the 54th minute, while Eurosport puts it at the 53rd. Wisła also had a goal ruled out after Darijo Grujčić handled the ball before scoring. Jagiellonia's best chance came from Jesus Imaz in the 57th minute, while goalkeeper Sławomir Abramowicz denied Julius Ertlthaler in the 76th. According to Przegląd Sportowy, the match also featured a contested refereeing decision by Piotr Lasyk during an Imaz shot. Rodado sealed the win in the 87th minute, converting a rebound after a shot from Bozić.
Coach controversy
In the days before the match, attention focused on Jagiellonia coach Adrian Siemieniec, after Wirtualna Polska published correspondence in which he had allegedly tried to influence referee Arkadiusz Kamil Wójcik regarding yellow cards for Jagiellonia players at risk of suspension near the end of last season. Kraków fans chanted about the affair during the second half. Siemieniec said before kickoff that the move had been unnecessary and a mistake, made without bad intentions, and that it would not happen again.
