Rozlapa's team files protest over wrongly credited points
Saarlouis Royals, coached by Latvia's Matiss Rozlapa, has protested an alleged scoring error in its loss to Osnabruck. The club is seeking a replay.
Saarlouis Royals, the German women's basketball league (DBBL) club coached by Latvian Matiss Rozlapa, has filed a protest over what it says were incorrectly awarded points in an away game against Osnabruck. The league's website reported the protest on Tuesday, 6 October.
The game
On Sunday, 4 October, Saarlouis Royals lost the first-round game away to GiroLive Panthers Osnabruck 63–65. Elizabete Bulane scored 19 points for the visitors.
The club's objections
The club attached video to its protest which, it says, shows the hosts scored 28 points in the first half, with the visitors leading 34–28. However, during the halftime break, two points were added to the technical protocol for Osnabruck player Kristlova, although the video shows she did not score them. After that change the halftime score became 34–30, and the game ended 63–65, even though, by the club's count, each team scored 63 points.
The documentation submitted lists all first-half points in chronological order. The video also captures stoppages during the game, some of which lasted several minutes. The club believes the game should be replayed.
Next game
Saarlouis Royals' first home game in the Bundesliga is scheduled for Sunday, 11 October, against Eisvogel USC Freiburg. The game is supported by Saar Mosel Motorhomes, and spectators will have a chance to compete for a prize: a one-week camper van rental worth about 1,000 euros.
