RSU uses non-existent contract clause in dispute with students over qualifications
Rīga Stradiņš University reduces the number of qualifications in the Sports Science program, sparking student protests. The university justifies the decision for some students with a non-existent contract clause.

Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) has sparked strong opposition from students after deciding to narrow the range of qualifications available in the "Sports Science" study programme. The university now allows students to obtain only one qualification instead of the previous two, significantly altering the course of study.
The students' dissatisfaction is further fueled by a curious detail – for some of them, the university administration justified the decision by citing a clause in the signed contract that does not actually exist. RSU calls for resolving the dispute based on substance rather than clinging to the letter of the law, but students find this approach unacceptable.
The conflict between the university administration and students continues, with both sides seeking a way out. RSU emphasizes that the changes are necessary to improve study quality, while students argue that it limits their freedom of choice and future opportunities.
