Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) beat Liepāja 75:62 in a Women's Baltic Basketball League game at the Liepāja Olympic Centre. The visitors won the quarters 19:9, 20:20, 15:15 and 21:18 — the score line reads 9:19, 20:20, 15:15, 18:21 from Liepāja's perspective.
Liepāja came into the game after a convincing 75:52 win over Aistės LSMU in Kaunas and hoped for a second straight victory. Those plans were spoiled by the productive play of RSU's second unit. Captain Una Šteinharde, together with Kristīne Hauka, Madlēna Pērse and Kristija Joma, scored 28 points coming off the bench. Liepāja's reserves contributed six points.
Liepāja stayed close
The Kurzeme side kept fighting. Kerlīna Balode scored heavily in the first half, and Marta Ploriņa took on more responsibility in the second, so Liepāja stayed within reach for a long time.
In the end, the depth of RSU's roster and Emīlija Trofimenko's accuracy from long range — five three-pointers — decided the game.
