Romanian Defense Minister Radu Miruța announced that on Saturday, July 25, the country's forces shot down a second unmanned aerial vehicle in two days. This is the second time Romania has downed a drone since the start of Russia's full-scale war in Ukraine.

Details about the drone's origin or purpose were not disclosed, but the incident occurs amid heightened tensions in the region due to the conflict in neighboring Ukraine. Romania, a NATO member, has previously reported incursions of Russian drones and missiles into its airspace.

The defense minister emphasized that the country continues to monitor its airspace and take necessary measures to ensure security. Local residents were warned of possible noise and advised to remain calm.

This marks the second use of Romania's air defense systems to neutralize a drone since the war began in 2022. The first similar incident occurred two days earlier.
