In Romania, two F-16 fighter jets shot down two unmanned aerial vehicles over the Black Sea early on Saturday evening after the drones had entered Romanian airspace. Where the drones came from has not yet been established.
Where and how it happened
According to Defence Minister Radu Miruta, the drones were downed roughly 20 kilometres east and southeast of the port city of Sulina. Both were brought down by Romanian F-16 jets.
Miruta announced the incident soon afterwards. The source does not say who owned the drones, what their mission was or which direction they were flying. It also gives no information on any damage or casualties.
What is known and what is not
What is clear is that the aircraft violated Romanian airspace and that the country's defence forces responded with armed intervention. Other circumstances, including who the drones belonged to, are not yet publicly known.
