Latvian football club Auda's victory over FCSB in the Conference League has drawn significant attention not only in Latvia but even more so in Romania, where local media have described the loss as shame and humiliation.

Auda advanced with a 7:3 aggregate score, prompting strong reactions in the Romanian press. The news portal Adevarul ran a headline about 'European shame for FCSB,' noting that the team, which played in the Europa League group stage less than two years ago, was eliminated already in the second qualifying round of the Conference League.

Club owner Gigi Becali made dismissive remarks about Auda after the match, but other team representatives were more self-critical. Captain Florin Tanase admitted that the team played a catastrophically bad game and did not deserve to advance. He added that if they had played well, the outcome would have been different.

Head coach Marius Baciu called the result shameful and humiliating, while noting that an analysis showed some positive aspects. He also emphasized that European matches must not be taken lightly and that the opponents deserved congratulations for their goals.

The portal Click.ro labeled the loss a historic disgrace, reminding readers of the boastful statements made by the club's owner and sporting director Mihai Stoica before the match. The outlet noted that the pitch clearly showed how these words matched reality. It also expressed the opinion that promised squad reinforcements might be cancelled and players may have to be sold, as the early elimination will significantly reduce the club's budget revenue.

Other Romanian media also used strong language. Digi24 wrote that FCSB was knocked out of Europe's weakest club competition by an unknown team, while Libertatea called the result a black evening for Romanian football and one of the most painful failures in the club's history.
