Public Transport Council Supports Three New Bus Routes

The Public Transport Council gave its approval on Monday to three new commercial bus routes that will connect Riga with several towns. The approved routes are Riga–Valmiera, Riga–Valka, and Riga–Saulkrasti–Kursīši–Saulkrasti station.

The decision aims to improve public transport accessibility in the regions. The new routes will provide direct connections between the capital and these cities, making daily travel easier for residents. These commercial routes are expected to expand the transport network and boost regional mobility.

The Council noted that the route Riga–Saulkrasti–Kursīši–Saulkrasti station is particularly important as it connects not only larger towns but also smaller settlements. Similarly, the Riga–Valmiera and Riga–Valka routes will offer faster and more convenient access to those cities.

It is not yet known when these routes will start operating, but the Council’s support is the first step toward their introduction. Travelers will be able to use the new buses once they are implemented under commercial terms.
