Latvian grid operator releases footage showing storm damage repair from technician's view

Latvian electricity distribution company AS “Sadales tīkls” has shared a video on its social media accounts showing what it takes for repair crews to restore power supply after a powerful storm caused significant damage to electrical line infrastructure.

The footage shows broken and damaged utility poles, along with trees that had fallen across power lines. The company noted that crews faced extremely difficult access to damaged sites, requiring many hours of work without rest.

A technician's-eye view

What makes the video notable is that it was filmed from the perspective of the worker carrying out the repairs, allowing outside viewers to see firsthand how physically demanding and logistically complex the process of restoring electricity supply is after storm damage.

According to the company's statement, the video offers a glimpse into what storm damage recovery looked like from the crews' point of view — featuring damaged poles, fallen trees, difficult access, and long working hours.

“Sadales tīkls” expressed special thanks to Andris Bogdanovičs, an electrician from its Daugavpils branch, who managed to film this responsible and hazardous work process while operating in storm-affected areas, giving the public insight into the daily challenges faced by electricians during emergency situations.
