Sadiq's goal at Elche gives Valencia their second win of the season

In round 11 of La Liga, Spain's top football division, Valencia won 1-0 away against Elche. The winner came from Umar Sadiq, who scored in his first match after recovering from an injury. It was Valencia's second victory of the season, and with nine points the club sits 19th in the table.

A goal in the second half

Elche came close to scoring first. In the 22nd minute Lucas Cepeda broke forward, moved closer to the penalty area and fired the ball towards the near corner, but it hit the crossbar. The hosts kept up the pressure until the end of the first half, yet could not open the scoring.

The decisive moment came in the 69th minute. Arnaut Danjuma, after a fine pass from the middle of the pitch, left the ball for his teammate. Sadiq kept control of the ball in the penalty area and scored the goal that settled the match.

Athletic win from the spot

In a later match, Athletic Bilbao beat Real Sociedad 2-1. The game was decided by a penalty at the end of the first half. Jon Aramburu tried to reach the ball but caught an opponent's legs instead. Goalkeeper Alex Remiro guessed the direction of the kick, but Alex Berenguer's penalty was more accurate and put Athletic back in front.
