Saeima Confirms Temporary Mandate for Roberts Ķipurs

The Saeima on June 18 decided to grant a temporary parliamentary mandate to Roberts Ķipurs, a member of the National Alliance. This move comes as the previous deputy, Nauris Puntulis, has taken up the position of Minister of Culture. Consequently, the next candidate on the party list will temporarily occupy his seat in parliament. The mandate is valid for the duration of Puntulis’s ministerial duties or until he returns to the Saeima. Such temporary replacements are a common practice in Latvia when ministers temporarily vacate their parliamentary seats. The confirmation of Roberts Ķipurs took place during a regular Saeima session.
