Saeima closes spring session, heads into long summer break
The Latvian parliament has officially ended its spring session, with deputies now on summer recess until August 31, though emergency sittings may be called for urgent matters.

The Saeima held its final sittings this week, officially concluding the spring session. On Thursday, June 19, the parliament held a Midsummer celebration event in the Session Hall and the Red Hall, after which deputies continued reviewing various issues until the evening.
The spring session ended on June 19 as planned. The next regular session — the autumn session — is scheduled to begin on August 31. However, coalition politicians indicated that emergency sittings could be convened during the summer to address matters that cannot be postponed.
According to the Saeima's rules of procedure, there are three regular sessions per year: autumn, winter, and spring. With the conclusion of the spring session, deputies now begin the longest break in the parliamentary calendar.
