Candidate pool for Saeima elections becomes narrower, older, more educated
Data from the Central Election Commission analyzed by LETA shows that candidates for the 15th Saeima elections are fewer in number, older on average, and have higher education levels compared to previous elections.

An analysis of Central Election Commission (CVK) data conducted by LETA reveals changes in the profile of candidates registered for the 15th Saeima elections. Compared to the previous parliamentary elections, the candidate pool this year is narrower, meaning fewer people have been nominated.
Furthermore, candidates have become older, with the average age increasing. At the same time, formal education indicators have improved, with a higher proportion of candidates holding a university degree.
These findings are based on LETA's analysis of CVK data. Exact figures regarding the number of candidates, average age, and education levels are not provided, but the trend is clear – candidates running in the Saeima elections are fewer, older, and more educated than before.
