Saeima Committee Backs Giving State Audit Office Power to Audit Parliament's Finances
The Saeima's Public Administration and Local Government Committee backed, in the second reading, a plan to let the State Audit Office examine the Saeima's finances. Two proposals to widen the audits failed to win support from committee members.

The Saeima's Public Administration and Local Government Committee on Wednesday supported, in the second reading, a bill that would give the State Audit Office the right to audit the Saeima's finances.
The planned changes would allow the State Audit Office to check whether the annual report prepared by the Saeima is accurate.
Wider audits not supported
The committee also considered two proposals that would have expanded the scope of the audits. The committee's deputies did not back them, so these additions were not included in the bill.
The bill now moves forward for further consideration in the Saeima.
