Last September, the Saeima twice postponed decision on amendments and removed them from the agenda pending a further commission decision. The amendments, drafted by MPs from the Progressive party, would have required eateries with a water connection to make drinking tap water available. Initially, proposals by non-faction MP Viktorija Pleškāne and United List MP Aiva Vīksna to exclude this provision were not supported. However, today, following a motion by National Alliance MP Jānis Grosberg to revote on these specific proposals, a majority of commission members voted to exclude the norm. The full Saeima could vote on the amendments on August 20.
