Saeima Committee Chairman Batņa earned almost €67,000 last year

Arvīds Batņa, chairman of the Saeima Education, Culture and Science Committee, declared income of €66,985 last year, according to his official declaration. The bulk came from his parliamentary salary, supplemented by teaching jobs and other sources.

Arvīds Batņa, the head of the Saeima’s Education, Culture and Science Committee, earned €66,985 in 2023, as shown in his public financial disclosure. The largest portion, €60,920, was his salary from the Saeima.

Additional income included €3,852 from Ādaži Municipality, €1,200 in benefits from the State Social Insurance Agency, €1,007 from Riga City Council, and €5 in bank interest.

Outside parliament, Batņa worked as a solfège teacher at Jāzeps Mediņš Riga 1st Music School, a teacher at Ādaži Secondary School, and served as a board member of the political party “Latvian Regions Association” and the foundation “Education Centre ‘Zvaigžņu laipa’”.

According to the declaration, he used an apartment in Ikšķile last year. He also purchased a 2018 Kia Sportage worth €13,000. Batņa had two loans – €20,000 and €25,000 – bringing his total debt to €54,000 by year-end.

The declaration showed no savings in private pension funds or life insurance at the end of the year.
