Saints and Falcons meet Monday night at Caesars Superdome

The New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons face off for the 115th time in Week 4 Monday Night Football, a game falling on the 20th anniversary of the Saints' historic 2006 'Domecoming' win, with both teams seeking their second victory of the season.

A historic rematch

On Monday night, the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons meet for the 115th time. According to the Atlanta Falcons' official site, Atlanta currently leads the all-time series 58-56, including the only playoff meeting between the two teams, which the Falcons won.

The matchup at Caesars Superdome falls on a significant date: on Sept. 25, 2006, the Saints played their first home game in more than a year following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and beat the Falcons 23-3, a game later remembered as 'Domecoming.' Ten years later, on the exact same date in 2016, the Falcons returned the favor, winning 45-32.

Where both teams stand

Both clubs enter Monday at 1-2, each chasing its second win of the 2026 season. Per NOLA.com, the Saints have played three tightly contested games decided by fourth-quarter moments, including a comeback road win over the Ravens in Week 2. The Falcons, meanwhile, delivered a statement win Thursday night in Green Bay, racking up nearly 500 yards of offense in quarterback Michael Penix Jr.'s first game back from injury. Penix said he expects a loud, emotional atmosphere in New Orleans, but that his team is ready to embrace the challenge.

The Saints, however, face serious injury concerns. NOLA.com reports the team will be missing linebackers Kaden Elliss, Carl Granderson and Anfernee Jennings, with Pete Werner also in doubt — a troubling sign against a Falcons offense anchored by running back Bijan Robinson.

Experts split on the outcome

Predictions from NOLA.com's staff vary widely. Three of five writers favor the Saints: Jeff Duncan picks 27-16, Zach Ewing goes with 23-17, and Luke Johnson predicts 30-28, while Matthew Paras forecasts an even bigger Saints win, 38-17. Rod Walker is the lone dissenter, picking the Falcons 27-24, pointing to Atlanta's impressive win at Lambeau Field, Penix's return, and the Saints' depleted linebacker group.
