Latvian-Estonian Basketball League Kicks Off with Bigger Budgets and High Ambitions
The new season of the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League begins this week with an opening match, as several clubs with increased budgets aim for the championship title won last spring by Valmiera.
This week marks the official start of the new Latvian-Estonian Basketball League season, opening with its first match. As in the previous season, a fierce battle for the championship title is expected.
Last spring, the title was claimed by the Valmiera club. This season, a number of clubs are again competing for the top honor, and some of the wealthiest among them have increased their budgets — some more significantly than others.
The larger financial investments suggest that competition in the league could be even tighter this season, as clubs work to strengthen their positions and improve their chances in the race for the championship.
