Starting today, April 1, drivers using the Daugavpils highway in Ikšķile must prepare for significant traffic disruptions. Due to road reconstruction, traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction, leading to slower travel. One exit to Ikšķile will be closed. In the direction of Ogre, u-turns can be made at the intersection with Kadiķu Street; in the direction of Rīga, at parking areas after Ikšķile.

Pedestrians should note that the tunnels under the Daugavpils highway will be closed. The highway can only be crossed via Skolas Street underpass.

These works are part of broader road maintenance across Latvia. Construction is ongoing on 71 state road sections. The most severe restrictions on main roads include the Daugavpils highway section from Gospori to Nīcgale, where temporary traffic lights are installed and the estimated crossing time is 40 minutes. Another challenging section is from Kalniški to Ļūbaste, with a 25-minute crossing time.

On the Liepāja highway from Blīdene to Purvakrogs Brāļu kapi, there are two temporary traffic lights, speed limits, and localized road narrowings, with an estimated crossing time of 30 minutes. The Daugavpils bypass interchange has three temporary traffic lights, speed limits, and a crossing time of about 30 minutes. Significant restrictions are also in place on state regional roads.
