Preorders open for iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max
Apple has opened preorders for the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, which go on sale September 18th. Buyers can choose from several purchase and financing options through Apple directly, major retailers, and carriers.
Apple has begun taking preorders for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Both devices were unveiled at the company's September 2026 event alongside the iPhone Duo and other new products. The upgraded phones feature the faster A20 Pro processor with more GPU power and additional neural cores for AI-related tasks, along with camera improvements.
The phones arrive in stores on Friday, September 18th. The 6.3-inch iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 for the 256GB model and goes up to $2,399 for the 2TB version. The larger 6.9-inch iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299, with the 2TB model priced at $2,499. Both phones come in four colors: deep black, silver, glacier, and burgundy.
Purchase and financing options
At this time, unlocked versions can only be preordered directly from Apple. Buyers who don't want to pay the full price upfront can choose zero-interest financing over 36 monthly payments, or enroll in the newly announced Apple Upgrade program. Trading in an existing phone can bring credit of up to $885 toward a new device, with carriers offering additional credits on top.
Retailers Best Buy and Walmart are currently only listing carrier-locked models. Best Buy offers the phones through Verizon and AT&T, while Walmart offers them through Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile.
Carriers have their own deals: AT&T covers the cost of an iPhone 18 Pro through billing credits over 36 months for customers who trade in an eligible older iPhone and sign up for a qualifying plan. T-Mobile and Verizon offer comparable deals for new and existing customers, though buyers generally need to stay with the carrier for several years to receive the full value.
