The “Liepāja 2027” foundation has opened applications for its annual training and mentoring programme aimed at young people from the Liepāja, South Kurzeme and Kuldīga municipalities. The programme will accept 24 participants aged 14 to 24, who from October 2026 to June 2027 will learn the skills of organising cultural events and put them into practice.

Teams and venues

Participants will be split into four teams of six, each responsible for a different cultural venue — the “Pūt, vējiņi!” concert garden, the Tipogrāfija creative quarter, Kuldīga Culture Centre, and the “Robežnieki” culture house in Grobiņa parish. Organisers say that alumni from the programme's two previous seasons will again take part, sharing their experience, leading training sessions and helping select new participants.

How the programme runs

Autumn will bring an orientation and preparation stage, starting with participants getting acquainted in October, followed by team-building in November and idea-generation sessions in December. January and February will focus on practical training in event production, budget planning, securing partners and sponsors, and marketing, culminating in a dress rehearsal and project presentations at the end of February. From March to June, each team will carry out its planned event at its assigned venue in Liepāja, Kuldīga or South Kurzeme municipality, working closely with programme mentors throughout.

How to apply

An online application form is open until 15 September. Submitted applications will be reviewed by a commission that includes graduates of previous seasons, and selected candidates will be invited to interviews in late September before the final 24 participants are chosen. The programme is implemented by the association “Attīstības platforma You+”.
