Applications open for the "Studētgods" social scholarship

Since the beginning of the month, students have been able to apply for the state social scholarship "Studētgods", which amounts to 180 euros per month. Applications for the first semester of the 2026/2027 academic year can only be submitted electronically through the "Latvija.lv" portal, with a deadline running from September 1 to September 20.

The scholarship is available to students under 25 who are enrolled in college programs, bachelor's studies, or certain long-cycle second-level study programs such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, or veterinary medicine.

Who qualifies

To receive the scholarship, applicants must meet at least one social criterion. It is intended for students from large families, young people who themselves have at least three children, orphans or those left without parental care, people with a first or second degree disability, and students from low-income or poor households.

Academic and income requirements

Additional academic requirements also apply. Upon university admission, the centralized exam score in mathematics must reach at least 30%, and in Latvian language at least 40%, at the optimal level. During studies, the applicant must maintain a weighted average grade of at least six points, remain in good academic standing, and have no outstanding academic debts.

Student income is also assessed. For applications submitted in autumn, total income for that year must not exceed 11,840 euros gross. For applications evaluated as of February 20, the income limit for the previous tax year is 17,760 euros gross.

It is important to note that applicants must reapply for the scholarship every semester, even if they received it previously. Applications for the second semester will be accepted from February 1 to February 20. Applications cannot be submitted outside these deadlines or outside the "Latvija.lv" portal.
