A solidarity concert titled “In Music with Ukraine” will be held at the Salaspils Concert Hall in Latvia on 12 November. Pupils from music schools in Salaspils and in war-affected Chernihiv region of Ukraine will perform alongside Latvian artists Aija Andrejeva, Jānis Aišpurs, Ralfs Eilands and pianist Andrejs Osokins. All proceeds will go to the charity campaign “Warm Meals for Ukrainian Soldiers at the Front”, so the event also serves as support for Ukraine's armed forces.

Culmination of the camp

The concert concludes the fifth masterclass camp for young musicians from Chernihiv, held in Latvia by the Osokins Foundation, which was founded by Osokins himself. From 6 to 18 November, the camp will bring together 25 children and young people aged 11 to 17. Over two weeks, guided by teachers from Latvian music schools, they will refine their instrumental and interpretive skills, perform in concerts and take part in a creative masterclass programme.

Participants play violin, piano, accordion, trumpet, clarinet, trombone and guitar. This year the camp will for the first time also feature the French horn, tuba and baritone horn.

Support for the front

Money raised from ticket sales is intended for buying self-heating meals and delivering them to soldiers. They will make it possible to provide hot food even in harsh winter conditions.

Osokins, who came up with the idea for the camp, stressed the concert's importance for the children and teachers from the Chernihiv region: it matters for them to feel the audience's applause and the musicians' support. They will take that experience home to strengthen their families and community in the coming winter, which, he said, promises to be one of the harshest since the start of the full-scale war. Osokins thanked the musicians for their willingness to take part and invited listeners to attend.

Since 2024, the foundation's initiative has provided support, a sense of safety and creative inspiration to almost 100 Ukrainian children.
