Motorcyclist dies in crash in Salaspils region
A motorcyclist died on Saturday in a road accident in the Salaspils region after losing control and crashing into a roadside barrier. State Police are investigating the circumstances.

A motorcyclist died in a road accident in the Salaspils region on Saturday, State Police confirmed to the LETA news agency.
The crash occurred at around 11:15 on a road connecting the Daugavpils highway (A6) with the Riga bypass road (A4). According to available information, the rider of a BMW motorcycle lost control, overturned and struck a protective barrier at the roadside. The man died at the scene.
State Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the accident, though further details have not yet been made public.
Road safety situation across Latvia
For the preceding 24-hour period, police reported a total of 98 road traffic accidents across Latvia. These accidents injured 12 people, while one person — the motorcyclist mentioned above — died. Among those injured were two pedestrians, two cyclists and one electric scooter rider.
During the same period, authorities issued 358 administrative violation rulings related to road traffic, including 140 for speeding and one for aggressive driving.
