Saldus municipality to pay €50 grant to every first-grader
Saldus municipality is inviting parents of children starting first grade this autumn to apply for a €50 grant toward school supplies, with applications open until 30 September 2026.
Saldus municipal government is offering a one-time €50 payment to families whose child is starting first grade for the first time at a local school this coming school year. Council chairman Māris Zusts has encouraged parents to take advantage of the offer and submit the required application in time.
Who qualifies
The grant is available regardless of a family's financial situation. The only conditions are that one parent and the child must both have their registered residence in Saldus municipality, and the child must be starting first grade for the first time at a school run by the municipality. Only one parent may apply, and the payment will be transferred to the bank account listed in the application.
How and where to apply
Applications are accepted until 30 September 2026. They can be submitted in person at the Saldus municipal agency "Sociālais dienests" at Slimnīcas iela 3A in Saldus, at its branch at Skolas iela 10 in Brocēni, or at remote client service points in the rural parishes. Those with a secure electronic signature may also send their application by email to the social service or to its official electronic address. Application forms are available both on the municipality's website and in printed form at the entrance to the social service office.
