School transport in Saldus municipality unaffected by transport strike
A September 16 protest by transport carriers will not disrupt school transport in Saldus municipality, though regional bus routes operated by AS "Liepājas autobusu parks" may be affected.

Raivis Zīrups, deputy chairman of the Saldus municipal council responsible for development and infrastructure, has confirmed that the nationwide protest action "One Day Without Public Transport," planned for September 16, will not affect school transport services in Saldus municipality. Transport for schoolchildren will continue as usual.
At the same time, the municipality is urging residents to monitor updates from AS "Liepājas autobusu parks," as the carrier will take part in the protest that day.
What carriers are planning
AS "Liepājas autobusu parks" has announced that on September 16, 2026, it will join the protest organized by the Latvian Association of Passenger Carriers (LPPA). As a result, some of the company's regional bus routes may see disruptions. The company clarified that the protest applies only to regional transport services, not other types of transport.
Passengers are advised to check for up-to-date information on specific routes that could be affected in advance. Details about which routes will be impacted will be published on the AS "Liepājas autobusu parks" website and through the company's other official communication channels.
The Saldus municipal government emphasized that transport services for schools will operate without changes that day, meaning parents and students should not expect disruptions to the learning process.
