Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra screens turning red: company investigating
Some Galaxy S26 Ultra owners report a reddish tint on their displays; Samsung has confirmed it is investigating the issue internally, though the cause remains unknown.

Several Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra owners have taken to social media to report that their phone screens are developing a reddish tint. In some cases, a pink rectangle appears in the center of the display. It is unclear how widespread the issue is. Reports date back to March, shortly after the device launch, while others claim the red color appeared gradually after months of use or was visible on store demo units.
Engadget checked its own review unit from spring and found no color changes. However, Samsung has acknowledged the problem. On Monday, the company told Korean outlet Newsway that it is "examining the matter internally to confirm the cause." Engadget has reached out to Samsung for further comment but has not yet received a response.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is the only Samsung phone currently equipped with the Privacy Display feature. Some speculation suggests this feature might be responsible. While Engadget praised Privacy Display in its review for blocking over-the-shoulder snooping, some buyers had to return their devices due to eye strain, headaches, nausea, and dizziness. Other possible explanations include burn-in or environmental factors. The exact cause will remain uncertain until Samsung provides more details.
