Samsung's next Galaxy headphones may be over-ear H1 model
Code in Samsung's Galaxy Wearable app points to an upcoming pair of premium over-ear headphones, reportedly called Galaxy H1, launching in 2027. They would be Samsung's first over-ear headphones since 2015 and could compete with Apple's AirPods Max.
Samsung appears to be preparing a new pair of over-ear headphones, according to clues found in its Galaxy Wearable app. The discovery, reported by SamMobile, suggests the company is working on a product that may be named Galaxy H1 and could arrive in 2027.
If these plans materialize, it will mark a notable return for Samsung to the over-ear headphone format. The company's last such product was the Level On, released in 2015, before Samsung acquired Harman and several other audio brands. Since then, Samsung has focused its wireless audio efforts mainly on the Galaxy Buds line of earbuds.
The hidden code in the app includes connection status icons that render a generic design for wireless Bluetooth over-ear headphones, but they may not show the final appearance of the actual product. Samsung currently lacks a high-end over-ear option comparable to Apple's AirPods Max or Sony's XM series, which leaves room for the Galaxy H1 to fill that gap.
Apple updated its AirPods Max this year with a second-generation model that keeps the same overall design but adds a new chip, enabling features such as adaptive audio and live translation. By the time the Galaxy H1 arrives, it could include Samsung's Seamless Codec Ultra High Quality (SSC UHQ), which works exclusively with Galaxy phones and tablets from 2023 and newer. The headphones might also offer support for AI assistants like Gemini and Bixby, in a manner similar to the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro.
The report cautions that the strings of code are not a guarantee of the final design, and the company has not yet officially confirmed the product. Still, the evidence hints that Samsung is preparing to re-enter the premium over-ear market and challenge established rivals.
