Sandijs Semjonovs undergoes urgent hernia surgery, faces two-month recovery
Journalist and documentary filmmaker Sandijs Semjonovs had emergency surgery for an inguinal hernia in late July. He now faces a two-month recovery period with restrictions on heavy lifting and sport.
Well-known Latvian journalist and documentary filmmaker Sandijs Semjonovs encountered unexpected health issues at the end of last month. According to the magazine “Privātā Dzīve”, he urgently underwent surgery for an inguinal hernia.
Semjonovs explained to the magazine that he tries to do all recommended medical check-ups once a year and advises everyone who cares about their health to do the same. When the doctor said surgery was needed immediately, he did not hesitate. He noted that this is a problem that will not go away on its own, and without treatment the situation would only get worse.
The surgical procedure took place on July 28. Semjonovs was able to leave the medical facility after two days, but his recovery is not over. The usually active journalist now has a two-month rehabilitation period ahead until everything heals properly. During this time, he must not lift anything heavy, and sport is also forbidden for a while. Movement is recommended only in a light regime.
Semjonovs also said that people simply get older, which is why attention to health becomes increasingly important. He urged everyone to undergo regular check-ups to detect potential problems early.
