Golden Retriever Welcomes Home Intruder With Toys Instead of Guarding the House
In San Diego, a four-year-old golden retriever named Nash greeted a burglar with his favorite toys instead of defending the home, and police quickly arrested the intruder.
A family in San Diego, California, experienced an unexpected twist when a stranger broke into their home. Nash, their four-year-old golden retriever who was supposed to act as the household's protector, had a very different idea of his role.
When the intruder entered the house, Nash did not bark or attack. Instead, he decided a new playmate had finally arrived. The dog rushed to fetch his favorite toys and eagerly offered them to the unfamiliar man, inviting him to play.
The dog's hospitality did not stop there. When police officers arrived at the scene to arrest the offender, Nash greeted them at the door just as cheerfully, still holding a toy in his mouth.
The dog's owner, Dante Roulis, later expressed his gratitude on social media to the San Diego police for their swift response, as well as to the providers of the home's security cameras and communication systems. Thanks to the technology and the quick work of emergency services, the break-in was stopped early, preventing potentially far more serious consequences. In the end, the family was left with nothing worse than an amusing story about their overly friendly "guard dog".
