The St Petersburg City Court in Russia has released 41-year-old Albert Morgan, who was accused of murdering his former girlfriend, 25-year-old Pobeda Airlines flight attendant Anastasia Nikulina, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. According to Novaya Gazeta, Morgan signed a contract with the Defence Ministry and will be assigned to a combat zone. The head of a recruitment centre filed a request to suspend his criminal case.

The killing in Dubai

The reports say that in December 2025 Morgan tracked his ex-girlfriend to Dubai, where she had come to train as a flight attendant for private jets. He entered her hotel room and stabbed her at least 20 times with scissors. After the killing he splashed the body with brilliant green dye, known as “zelyonka”, and cut off her hair.

Morgan then returned to St Petersburg and tried to join the Special Military Operation forces to avoid prosecution. He was nevertheless detained.

Earlier relationship

As Fontanka reported, Morgan and Nikulina had been together for about two years. According to her family, after the breakup he threatened her, listened in on her home phone calls, broke into her home at night and beat her. Eventually she decided to change jobs and leave Russia.

A month before her death, already in Dubai, she recorded a video saying her former partner would “most likely kill” her soon.

Developments in the case

In June 2026, almost six months after the killing, the Investigative Committee opened criminal cases against two police officers. Investigators believe they ignored the young woman's statements.
