Santa Šillere's jazz programme 'Poetry Sounds. Threads' to open Latvian Radio 3's autumn concert season
Singer Santa Šillere will open Latvian Radio 3's autumn concert season on 14 September with her original jazz programme 'Poetry Sounds. Threads', performed at Latvian Radio's Studio 1. The concert also forms part of the annual 'Poetry Days' celebrations on the 'Klasika' platform.
Latvian Radio 3 has chosen singer Santa Šillere's original programme 'Poetry Sounds. Threads' to open its autumn concert season. The programme brings together poetry and jazz, featuring nine new compositions that set Latvian poets' words to music.
The pieces draw on texts by Krista Anna Belševica, Aleksandra Line, Zane Zusta, Aspazija, Aija Āboltiņa and Emīls Buiķis. Combining authors from different generations and styles, the programme offers a wide palette of poetic voices interpreted through Šillere's jazz sensibility.
Concert and meetings with poets
The concert will take place on 14 September in Latvian Radio's Studio 1. Beyond the performance itself, the event is designed as an opportunity for the audience to meet the poets whose words are featured in the programme.
The date coincides with the annual 'Poetry Days' celebrations, held this year on the broadcaster's cultural platform 'Klasika'. As a result, the concert serves a dual purpose: marking the opening of Latvian Radio 3's new concert season while also contributing to the wider poetry festival programme.
