Charania explains why Celtics failed to land Antetokounmpo
According to ESPN insider Shams Charania, the Boston Celtics failed to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo because the Milwaukee Bucks demanded more young players and first-round picks than Boston was willing to offer.

ESPN insider Shams Charania, citing league sources, has explained why the Boston Celtics were unable to complete a trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo. It was previously reported that the Milwaukee Bucks sent Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat in exchange for a package of players and draft picks.
The Celtics were serious contenders in the trade talks, offering Jaylen Brown and two future first-round picks. However, the Bucks wanted more assets: additional young players such as Hugo Gonzalez and Baylor Scheierman, as well as more first-round selections. According to Charania, this was the reason the deal fell through.
This marks the second time in recent years that Brown has been involved in trade rumors; he was previously discussed in a potential deal for Kevin Durant. Brown himself has stated that last season, during which he played extensive minutes without Jayson Tatum, was his favorite in his career. He averaged career highs of 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game.
Charania believes that after the failed attempt to acquire Antetokounmpo, the Celtics face uncomfortable negotiations with Brown, who has now been offered in trade talks for the second time. Brown will be eligible to sign a contract extension in July, and how the situation develops will be closely watched.
