The Sarkandaugava neighbourhood in Riga is hosting the Baltic street art and culture festival "Row Baltics" on Sunday, running until 10 p.m. The event brings together street artists from Latvia and abroad, representatives of hip-hop culture, BMX and skateboard athletes, dancers, musicians and urban culture enthusiasts.

This year the festival is taking place with support from the Riga City Council, forming part of the Street Art Month programme. The highlight of the event is a large-scale 400-square-metre wall mural created jointly by Baltic and international artists under the direction of Dainis Rudens. A Baltic beat battle organised by Sans and Defset will also take place, featuring original beats presented by 12 beatmakers from the Baltic states.

Participants and activities

Among the festival participants are DJ Suns un Kaķis and several other artists and musicians. BMX and skateboard fans can look forward to the international "Simple Sessions Street Series Riga" competition.

Throughout the day, visitors can join tours around the neighbourhood to learn about street art, take part in a street art game, try their hand at a collaborative graffiti wall, attend stencil and graffiti lettering workshops, create their own beats together with Erica Synths, and have their portrait drawn on the spot by artists.

Organisers have ensured accessibility for people with mobility impairments, while parts of the programme have been specially adapted for deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors.
