Satellite imagery reveals aftermath of Flamingo missile strike on Russian military plant
Ukraine struck the Russian military plant Avitek in Kirov with a Flamingo missile, killing six. Satellite images show the damage.
Ukraine’s defense forces struck the Russian military-industrial complex company Avitek in the city of Kirov on July 24 using a Flamingo missile. Radio Liberty released a satellite image showing the damage, with the missile piercing the roof of one of the plant’s workshops.
Avitek specializes in producing surface-to-air missiles, ejection seats for Russian Su-57 and Su-34 fighter jets, Tor surface-to-air missile systems, and Kh-101 air-launched missiles.
Kirov Oblast Governor Alexander Sokolov claimed that six people were killed in the strike. On July 24, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that defense forces had hit a company supporting Russia’s military-industrial complex. Denys Shtilerman, co-founder of Ukrainian defense company Fire Point, said the strike was carried out using a Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile. On July 25, Zelenskyy confirmed a second strike on the same facility.
