French President Emmanuel Macron announced that Saudi Arabia will invest €6 billion to build a large-scale entertainment complex near Paris, featuring three theme parks. Macron described the project as a new destination of global significance.

The agreement formalizing the deal was signed on Monday at the Elysée Palace by Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Jobs and infrastructure

According to Macron, the project is expected to create 22,000 jobs. Besides the three theme parks, the complex will include hotels, catering facilities, and housing intended for young workers employed at the site as well as students.

Built on a former park's site

The complex will rise on the former grounds of Mirapolis, a theme park that closed in 1991. As POLITICO reported earlier this month, one of the new parks will be centered around manga.
