With the arrival of sunny autumn days, conditions have become favorable for open-air film screenings — as days grow shorter, the darkness needed for outdoor viewing arrives sooner than in midsummer.

This week marks the start of the student short-film showcase “...glāzi kino, lūdzu!”, which includes four planned screenings across the Sēlija and Latgale regions. Audiences at these events will get the chance to see short films created by students of audiovisual disciplines from several Latvian universities.

The project gives young filmmakers a platform to present their work to audiences outside the capital, choosing the Sēlija and Latgale regions as its venues. Across the four sessions, viewers will be able to observe the varied styles and approaches of different young authors, since the short films were produced at multiple Latvian universities where audiovisual disciplines are taught.

The onset of autumn, with its shorter days, creates favorable conditions for such open-air cinema events, as darkness falls earlier and audiences no longer need to wait until late evening for a screening to begin.
