Semeņistaja loses in Wimbledon qualifying final round
Latvian tennis player Darja Semeņistaja lost to Russian Anastasia Gasanova in the decisive third round of Wimbledon qualifying, failing to reach the main draw.

Latvian tennis player Darja Semeņistaja has ended her Wimbledon qualifying campaign with a defeat in the final round. She lost 4-6, 2-6 to Russian Anastasia Gasanova (WTA 290.) in the third and decisive qualifying match.
Semeņistaja, ranked 102nd in the world and seeded sixth in qualifying, missed the chance to earn a spot in the main draw. For advancing through two rounds, she received 30 WTA ranking points.
Earlier, the Latvian beat Czech Anna Siskova (WTA 231.) 7-6 (7:2), 1-6, 7-5 in the first round, and defeated Japanese Nao Hibino (WTA 247.) 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 in the second round. Three qualifying victories were required to enter the main tournament.
Latvia's top player Aļona Ostapenko already has a guaranteed place in the main draw. The Wimbledon main tournament on grass courts begins on Monday.
