Sam Curran stars as MI London roll over Sunrisers Leeds in The Hundred opener

MI London, formerly known as Oval Invincibles and winners of the last three men's tournaments, started their campaign in style. Chasing 144, they cruised home with 16 balls to spare, largely thanks to a destructive 93-run unbroken fourth-wicket stand between Curran and Nicholas Pooran.

After Brydon Carse's fine spell of 2-18 had given Sunrisers hope, Curran (60* off 39) and Pooran (58* off 22) took the game away. Pooran's blistering 19-ball half-century, featuring five fours and five sixes, swung the momentum decisively in MI London's favour.

Earlier, Curran had taken 2-27 and seamer Richard Gleeson impressed with 4-25 as Sunrisers were bowled out for 143. Mitchell Marsh top-scored with 41 at the top of the order, but the innings lost momentum after his departure. Tom Alsop's cameo of 31 from 18 balls provided a late boost, while England white-ball captain Harry Brook fell for eight and Sunrisers skipper Zak Crawley managed only 13.
