Ancient Roman Pula turned into a light-art stage
The coastal Croatian city of Pula is hosting the Visualia Light Festival, transforming its more than 2,000-year-old Roman architecture with contemporary light installations across 16 locations.
The Croatian Adriatic city of Pula is currently hosting the Visualia Light Festival, which has placed contemporary light installations at 16 locations throughout the historic city. The backdrop for these works is Pula's Roman architecture, some of which is more than 2,000 years old.
Projections and interactive art
Visitors to the festival can see light projections, interactive installations and contemporary artworks exploring themes such as peace, nature, human relationships and technology. The city's Roman amphitheatre and historic centre draw particular attention, offering a contrast between ancient architecture and some of the newest developments in light art.
International participation
Artists taking part in the festival come from a range of countries, including Croatia, Germany, Spain, Italy, Finland, France, the United Kingdom, Norway, Denmark and Ukraine, as well as Hong Kong/China. Additional international participants are connected to Thailand, the Netherlands and the United States.
